flags-945510_1920For many of us Memorial Day is the unofficial start of summer. Others use the day to make purchases at a variety of stores with Memorial Day sales. But when the holiday was originally proclaimed it was to remember those that fought and died in the Civil War. It was called Decoration Day and people placed flags on the graves of the fallen.

So whatever you do today – if you’re by the beach, scoring a great deal in the store, or grilling with your family, take a quick minute to remember those that died for our freedom and those that are still deployed around the world.
